Favorite Look of the Week

GE April 2, 2015

Getty Images

My favorite look this week was of the always elegant Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge attended an event on the Steven Lawrence Centre with her husband Prince William. This was her last public event as she is starting her maternity leave, and of course she did it in style.

I loved her fuchsia Mulberry coat! She chose to use a small black clutch and black pump shoes, that matched perfectly the buttons of her double breasted coats. She looked amazing in her outfit, reminding us all that spring is already here! What do you think?

Last of Swan Lake

GE April 1, 2015

During the final days of Swan Lake season we had a surprise visit by talented photographer Daniel Ptatlán. He was part of a team from Mac Cosmetics (more about that coming soon!), he shot beautiful pictures during the warm up and the show.

I couldn't resist to share some of them, hope you enjoy them!

you can check out the whole session at  www.desde1989.com

Around San Miguel de Allende

GE March 7, 2015

I am pretty sure that most of my Mexican friends are familiar with San Miguel de Allende, not so sure about my international friends. Either way this post will show a little of what I did and saw when I was in this lovely city over my winter break.

San Miguel de Allende is a city in the state of Guanajuato  founded in 1542. It is well known for its colonial architecture, art galleries, handcrafts, amazing food,  and so much more. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

One of the best known landmarks is the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel. I must emphasize that this church is not a cathedral but a parish (I was corrected for it like five times).

The different vibrant colors on each building , the hilled cobblestone streets and alleys, and the mix between old and contemporary Mexico make this city a beautiful scenery.

You can find all sorts of handcrafts, from the very simple ones on street markets up to the really high quality ones found in boutiques or art galleries . There is also a lot of Talavera pottery around. It can be used for bowls, jars, wall decoration and plenty other stuff. Lately I am on a talavera loving phase so you will be seeing a lot of it around here.

Comfortable shoes are a total YES for the touristy part of the day.

All around the main plaza they sell garland crowns, handmade with real flowers in all sorts of colors. Of course I had to buy one...there was no option about it. (Check out the talavera background!)

Later on I will give you my list of top things to do while in San Miguel de Allende.

Swan in Vogue

GE March 2, 2015

The first Swan Lake week is over, we "only" have four more to go. The premiere went pretty well, but no matter what it is always a shocking experience to do Odette.

On a related note, Vogue Mexico talked to me and followed me around for Swan Lake rehearsals  (yes, Vogue as in the magazine!) and the article just came out tonight.

Words cannot describe my excitement to see my picture on Vogue Mexico´s website.

Go to http://www.vogue.mx/moda/estilo-vogue/articulos/greta-elizondo-ballet/4871 to read the full article.

I promise I will get to my non-ballet posts really soon, there is just so much ballet going on lately!

Swan Lake

GE February 26, 2015

Every year the company has a 4-5 week Swan Lake season. The premiere for it is tonight.

It is a very different version than any other you would see. We do it outdoors in the Chapultepec forest. The stage is surrounded by water and has real trees all over it. Sometimes making it hard to dodge them while dancing.

Even though it is a difficult stage to dance on ( dealing with bugs, trees, and watery eyes from the cold wind) the natural setting really makes this ballet unique.

I will be dancing Odette, the white swan tonight. I am feeling a little very anxious and scared but hopefully it will go well (fingers crossed). If you happen to be in the audience please enjoy it and send all sorts of positive energy to us.
